F.V. Gannet’s Story
Gannet was built to survey with a kauri carvel planked hull and totara deck/cabin in 1966. She was designed by Roger Carey and built by W. A. Hern with help from B. Mason and Fred Brown to be a commercial fishing vessel in New Zealand.
Gannet’s is installed with one engine, a GM 471 100hp engine with a Alison 3:1 Reduction which is fueled by three stainless steel fuel tanks onboard the Gannet. Her propeller is 4 bladed and has been repitched
She is currently set up for trawling and netting but in early 2023 was listed for sale in Timaru. As a capable vessel she could continue her fishing career or be converted into a pleasure boat.
