All We know About Imalone
Imalone was designed and partially built by Jack Guard. Guard built the hull with kauri planks and birch ribs. John McCauley then built the decks and wheelhouse. The building of the hull took place in Guard’s boat shed in Pukatea Bay, Marlborough Sounds before she was towed to Bulwer for John McCauley to finish off.
Imalone started life with a JP2 Lister engine but around 25 years later this was updated with a Detroit GM 371.
According to Waitemata Woodys Imalone’s home port in 2021 was Nelson but we have recently been told Imalone is moored in Bulwer.
