Everything We Know About Shango

Shango was designed and built by Keith Atkinson in 1970.  Shango is made out of kauri strip planks and fibre glass over timber decks.

She was listed for sale in June 2023 as having 6 berths, an open flybridge and a Ford Dover 2728T 200hp engine.  Her current berth is also shown to be in Westpark Marina.

The listing outlines the upgrades made on Shango between 2021/22, when she appears to have had a complete refit.  These includes new carpets, curtains and upholstery, new galley finishes, the installation of a 12 volt TV and shower, interior and exterior has been repainted and the electric toilet was reconditioned.  She also seems to have had her radar tower removed at this time.

The engine also received some attention from Moon including new fuel injectors and fuel pump, filters changed, tappets and timing reset and the turbo was checked.

Shango was spotted on Waitemata Woodys anchored on Waiheke Island over the Christmas and new Year holidays in 2023.

Shango possibly had two names before. These were Ani and possibly Brief Affair.  But The Ani/Brief Affair boat is said to be a Keith Atkinson 41 foot launch built in 1975 on Waitemata Woodys so its unclear if they are all the same boat.
