Everything We Know About Clyde
Clyde was built to be a schooner-rigged deck scow by Lane and Brown in Whangaroa. Her first owners were Thomas Major Lane, Kenneth McDonald who owned her from 1885 to 1891. During her years with them Clyde had the crew space altered in 1886.
In 1891 Matthew Rooney purchased her but it is unknown how long he owned her. Rooney was the owner of a sawmill in Townsville, Queensland. He took Clyde to Australia and registered her to the Port of Townsville in 1891.
Some years later in 1923 Clyde was stranded in the Ross River in Townsville and was broken up. This led to her Australian register being closed on the 26 July 1923.
